We love to support local charities and social initiatives, so we were delighted when we were invited to attend the BW3 Manchester Dinner held at the Lord Mayors Parlour in Manchester on 29th September.
BW3 is an alliance of businesses and community groups who are based in Wythenshawe or who have special affinity to the area. Its aim is to support the social and economic regeneration of Wythenshawe through community involvement activities to improve the lives especially of children and young adults living in the area. It has an agreed charter and works with a number of strategic and local agencies to address improvement in employment, education, health, crime and capacity building for local community organisations.
It runs a number of initiatives for the mutual benefit of businesses and the community – like ‘Numbers at Work’ which shows primary school students how maths is used in the workplace and the ‘Get Hired’ employment fair where local residents can meet employers face-to-face.
We had a great night and were delighted to donate £1,000 to this fantastic cause because we know it will go to great use and make a real difference to the prospects of real people in the south Manchester area.
Brian Hay of Cardinal Maritime and significant supporter of BW3 said:
“The work BW3 are doing in Wythenshawe is truly life changing for many of the children and young adults we work with and £1,000 goes a long way to help our ambitions to roll-out the programme to many other schools in the area.”
